While still at Habañero, one of the last projects we completed was Servus's new public web site. Servus Credit Union is Alberta's largest credit union, and is a member-owned, community-based financial institution with roots dating back to 1938.
As our very first client, Habañero contracted Taunt to follow up on our original front-end development work on Servus.ca with an educational session at Servus' offices in Edmonton, AB.
We were sent on-site to help with site hand-off to Servus' internal development team. This included a two-day training session with their front-end developers, covering the SharePoint solution structure and how to go about with UX and template enhancements and changes going forward.
Prior to leaving Habañero, the work we undertook on Servus.ca included the majority of the site's SharePoint theme development, administrative tool customization, and a selection of custom-built financial calculators (savings, mortgage and loan) and related charts (as seen in the screenshots below.) The custom calculators we developed don't use Java or Flash, ensuring that they can still be used on mobile devices like the iPad.
We also developed the Find a Branch locator tool, a custom mapping solution which leverages Bing Maps for plotting branch and ATM locations, and includes support for driving directions. In addition, we created a custom site developed purely for smaller-screen mobile devices, while still leveraging SharePoint for content management.
I worked with Nick at Habañero for over three years. His expertise in front-end development, social media and SEO was a huge asset to our team. He is always on top of techniques to improve our project delivery and benefit our team and clients. We'll miss him as an employee but glad to continue our relationship as a contractor!
For the portion of this project completed while still at Habañero, technical work involved Microsoft SharePoint template customization and theming. In addition, we developed custom-built financial calculators (including growth and interest charts utlizing the jqPlot library) and the Find a Branch mapping interface, utilizing the Bing Maps API. The latter consulting portion consisted primarily of on-site training of Servus' development staff in order to continue support of their new web site in-house.
Visual design was performed by members of Habañero's UE group, including one of our extended team here at Taunt, UX designer Kurtis Beard.
